Kursets målsætning
The objective of the course is to give students a basic knowledge of crop production under tropical and subtropical conditions.
The course is intended for students who wish to qualify for research and teaching in the tropics and for employment in development agencies, NGOs and as private consultants.
 
Kursusindhold
The course introduces students to the major tropical crops and cropping systems. Cultural practices are illustrated in relation to the climatic, edaphic and socio-economic conditions.
The course should enable students to apply common knowledge on crops and crop production within the tropics and make them acquainted with important specific aspects related to crop production under tropical conditions.
 
Undervisningsform
Lectures will include the main crops and their cultivation. In addition the course comprises practicals in which the students will work with specific problems in small groups.
