Course Objectives
The main objective of the course is to make the participants familiar with the most important concepts of investment and finance. On successful completion of the course students are able to evaluate practical investment projects in agriculture, agribusiness and related businesses, perform investment calculations and understand basic functions of financial markets.
 
Course Contents
The course is addressing the following major subjects:* Basic concepts of investment appraisal (e.g. capital budgeting, NPV, IRR)* Evaluation of investment proposals (e.g. cash flow analysis, replacement decisions )* Risk analysis and capital investments (e.g. measuring risk, portfolio approach, CAPM* Financial decisions (e.g. financial leverage, M & M - analysis, bankruptcy risk, leasing)* Agricultural finance (e.g. long-term financial decisions)Furthermore the students will receive an overview of the Danish agricultural financing system.
 
Teaching And Learning Methods
Lectures and theoretical/practical exercises on investment and finance problems. The teaching of quantitative models and methods is accompanied by intensive calculation exercises.
