Kursets målsætning
The aim is to equip the student with concepts and understanding of food and nutrition security in developing countries and to provide the students with theoretical background for undertaking appropriate actions.
 
Kursusindhold
During the course, the student will learn how to:
-describe nutrition security and its dimensions and connections to food security at national level and household level,
-identify clinical characteristics of populations suffering from malnutrition,
-explain indicators of populations in nutrition insecurity,
-identify and plan actions for prevention and treatment of malnutrition using a food based approach and
-plan actions for improving nutrition security
-identify and describe a case study within food and nutrition security, suggest appropriate actions and present and discuss them both orally and written.
 
Undervisningsform
The course comprises lectures, group and plenum discussions, thematic group work, student presentations, tutorials, excursions and video sessions.
