Kursets målsætning
The course will provide the student with a basic knowledge about the structure of important plant genomes and experience with major techniques used for their study for science and breeding. Focus is on closing the gap between important natural phenotypic traits like disease resistance, flowering time and drought tolerance and the rapidly increasing information on genome sequence.

- Genetic diversity and analysis of relatedness
- Genetic linkage and linkage maps
- Map based cloning
- Quantitative traits and QTLs
- EST, SNPs and array programmes
- Plant transformation and complementation techniques
- Genomics in Brassica (Arabidopsis model)
- Genomics in cereals (Rice model)
 
Undervisningsform
Teaching will be through a combination of lectures, laboratory experiments and computer exercises. The students time will be divided approximately half between preparing and attending lectures and performing exercises in laboratory and with computers.
