The organisation of food production has a very important implication for the agricultural sector. The organization of Danish agriculture is often viewed as a key factor in the competitiveness of Danish Agriculture. The organization of food production is changing rapidly in these years. Contract production is becoming more widespread and the cooperatives are in the process of organizational changes in order to adjust to new market demands. Analysing the organizational forms in the Danish agricultural complex, requires a good understanding of the special economic aspects of the cooperative organizational form. The lectures will introduce the students to new economic theories (e.g. moral hazard and adverse selection), contract theory, cooperative and non-cooperative game theory, transaction cost theory and multi-criteria decision making. Applications are based on cases from the Danish food industry as well as from other countries. | |||||||||||||
