Course Objectives
Main objective of the course is to familiarize the participants with the most relevant theoretical and methodological concepts of investment decisions and financial planning for private business firms in agriculture and the food sector.
 
Course Contents
The course content includes the following subjects:
- Basic concepts of investment appraisal
- Capital Budgeting, Working Capital
- Evaluation of Investment Proposals
- Replacement Decisions
- Investment´s Risk Analysis
- Portfolio Approach
- Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM)
- Financial Leverage, M&M-Analysis
- Bankruptcy Risk and Financial Structure
- Cost of Capital
- The Danish Agricultural Financing System
- Microfinance in Developing Countries
- Financial Leases
On successful completion of the course students are able to evaluate practical investment and finance projects in agriculture, agribusiness and related businesses, perform investment calculations and understand basic functions of financial decisions.
 
Teaching And Learning Methods
Lectures and theoretical/practical exercises on investment and finance problems. The teaching of quantitative models and methods is accompanied by intensive calculation exercises.
