Kursets målsætning
To impart a thorough knowledge of: (i) business economics of forestry and its application, (ii) Danish forestry's present social role in a wide sense and provide a solid foundation for assessing its potentials. Emphasis is on understanding forests as a specific multiple-use natural resource, providing market as well as non-market goods, (iii) a welfare economics approach to the allocation of resources to forestry and their utilisation.

Kursusindhold
The course builds on Forest and Natural Resources Economics and Policy 1. In forest economics, investment theory is supplemented with, e.g. portfolio theory inclusive of dynamic optimisation, and using deterministic as well as stochastic approach. The fundamentals of taxation of forestry are studied. In forest policy the extension mainly concerns economic analysis of the production of non-market goods, including the theory of public regulation.
