Through special lectures, laboratory practicals, seminars and excursions the student will achieve a detailed knowledge of the physiological processes and their impact on the development of horticultural crops from propagation until harvest. The focus will be on the understanding of underlying mechanisms and concentrate on single organ to whole plant level. | |||||||||||||||||||
Kursusindhold | |||||||||||||||||||
Developmental processes Root, shoot, bud, flower, fruit and seed development, hormone signalling, water and nutrient uptake and use, carbon relations, source and sink, growth rhythms, leaf and stem elongation, seasonal growth cycles. Environmental impact and control Competition for resources, stress reactions and adaptation in relation to water, plant nutrients, light and temperature. Influence of temperature, day length and light quality and quantity on plant development. Analysis Growth analysis, models and concepts to explain theories. | |||||||||||||||||||
Undervisningsform | |||||||||||||||||||
The central part will be seminars in which important key literature will be discussed. The students will take part in the seminars in varying roles e.g. as chairman, first speaker, opponent or general discussion participant. Key lectures and excursions will be arranged in connection with the different course subjects. Parallel to this laboratory practicals will take place. | |||||||||||||||||||
