Course Objectives
The main objective is for the students to understand the market. The aim of the course is, thus, to give students an insight into the models and frameworks used in market analyses in order to gain an understanding of the competitive and marketing conditions of horticulture. The aim is also to prepare students with an economics profile for further studies in this field.
 
Course Contents
The course is based on economic models and business strategy frameworks. International and national policy rules are presented, particularly the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. International trade in horticultural products and its regulations are dealt with.
Key words are: Market theory and structure, firm strategy, competitive conditions, supply chain management, location of production, international trade, agricultural and horticultural policies, market analysis and consumer studies.
 
Teaching And Learning Methods
Own formulation of questions of structure and performance of horticultural firms and supply chains, lectures and group discussions, with and without teachers, oral and written presentation of group work.
