To teach basic concepts of applied pharmacology and toxicology in development of biotechnology pharmaceuticals | |||||||||||||
Kursusindhold | |||||||||||||
The course consists of lectures and workshops. Lectures cover the following areas: 1. Pharmaceuticals, biologics and biopharmaceuticals in general 2. General pharmacology 3. Specific pharmacology with biotechnology pharmaceuticals (incl. non-clinical proof of concept) 4. Drug targets with biotechnology pharmaceutical 5. General toxicology 6. Specialised toxicology with biotechnology pharmaceuticals (incl. non-clinical safety evaluation) 7. The drug development process 8. The drug-manufacturing process 9. Pharmacology and toxicology with pharmaceuticals, biologics and biopharmaceuticals Workshops include specific pharmacology and specialised toxicology designed for selected product examples. The workshops should illustrate the highly specialised design with biotechnology pharmaceuticals in comparison with small molecule (conventional) pharmaceuticals. The workshops will also include presentations and discussions with scientists from the regional biotechnology pharmaceutical industries. | |||||||||||||
