Undervisningsform
The course will be taught as a combination of lectures, groupwork, seminars and field tests. Lectures will be given as a basis for theoretical input. Groupwork will be based on exercises where students develop further understanding. Seminars will be based on students own preparation and dissemination of knowledge. Field tests will be excursions where students are expected to test theory in practise. As both the future work field and the expected students represent a wide range of interests and educational backgrounds, teaching methods in this course will be interactive and active participation of the students in discussions and multidisciplinary group work is expected. Thus, students will be able to work interdisciplinary as well as relate their own academic background to related disciplines. As an integrated part of the course, a two-three day excursion to Norway, focusing on Green Structure Planning will take place. This course will be held at Department of Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning, and Department of Natural Resources, at the University of Life Sciences, Ås. The academic focus will be Green Structure Planning as a planning instrument, the strategies within the City of Oslo in relation to New Public Management and outsourcing plans, as well as Norwegian forest policy in relation to Urban Forestry. Lectures and group discussions will take place at the University, and field trips will be made to the City of Oslo, and various parks / urban woodlands.
