Kursusindhold | |
RECETO intensive courses consist of three parts each with a duration of one week. During the first week the participants prepare themselves for the course by reading selected texts (textbook material, journal papers), by carrying out exercises provided by the teachers and making short notes/reports on selected topics provided by the teachers (e.g. summarizing environmental fate and ecotoxicology of particular pollutants to be treated in detail at the course). A videoconference may be organized at start-up of the course. During the second week of the course the participants gets together at a convention centre, field station, or at a university campus. The second week concentrates on lectures, exercises (theoretical, laboratory), computer work (e.g. modelling, litterature search) and project work. Usually lectures take place in the morning and afternoons are reserved for exercises. During this week the course participants choose a project topic and project work is commenced. The participants may be asked to present for the class selected material prepared during the first course week, and part of their project preliminary work. Project work continues during afternoons and nights. Course participants may be asked to carry out exercises or short reports to be evaluated during the second week. An excursion may be included in the program of the second week. After the week of intense teaching, the course participants continue work on their project and a project report (or alternatively a poster) is submitted usually within two months from the start of the course.

Målbeskrivelse | |
The aims of the courses are either to provide a concentrated hands-on introduction and training in a particular discipline/tool. All intensive courses aim to introduce the participants to state-of-the-art concepts, techniques, models, tools, laboratory and computational approaches. RECETO intensive courses deviates from RECETO summerschools by being more narrow in scope, practical and oriented towards training of specific tools and procedures. Usually the intensive courses are taught by RECETO supervisors.
