Course Content
The course cover discussions of the theoretical framework and methods for estimation of key population genetic parameters with emphasis on woody plants. The subject of the course with include: The population and metapopulation concepts, neutral and adaptive genetic variation, mating systems and interaction with pollen vectors, genetic processes in small populations, minimum viable population number, zygotic and sexual selection, population structures, processes that maintain genetic variation over space and time, interaction between genetic and demographic processes, genetic sustainability and conservation genetic in practice.

Teaching and learning Methods
The course is based on lectures combined with students presentations on selected scientific papers. In order to obtain 12 ECT, the student must also develop a synopsis on a relevant topic.

Learning Outcome
The aim of the course is to introduce and discuss theoretical and practical aspects of commonly applied methods in population genetics of woody plant species.
