Kursusindhold
The following topics will be covered:
. Nutrient requirement of plants and uptake mechanisms
. Soil organic matter, C and N cycles
. Fertilizers: lesson learned from soil chemistry and plant physiology
. Rhizosphere effects in relation to macro and micronutrients
. Methodological focus: a critical review of soil and plant testing
. Food quality and soil fertility
 
Undervisningsform
The course includes literature review, focused topic discussions, practical and modelling exercises, as well as seminars given by specialist researchers and by the students themselves.
 
Målbeskrivelse
Upon completing the course the student will exposed to state of the art knowledge on
- concepts and methodologies used for studying soil fertility and plant nutrition
- processes that determine nutrient acquisition and utilisation by plants and the turnover and bio-availability of plant nutrients in soils and fertilizers
- environmental and human health issues that pertain turnover and acquisition of plant nutrients in terrestrial ecosystems

The course is recommended for PhD students that want to work on issues related to plant nutrition and nutrient turnover in terrestrial ecosystems
