Beskrivelse af eksamen: The students will be continuously assessed based on the following: Students have to participate at least 80% of the practical course. As a part of the course the student will have to perform oral presentations and hand in a number of in written exercises/cases and procedure protocols.

Obligatoriske forudsætningerDoctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM); at least two years of companion animal practice work experience; and certified Danish Fagdyrlæge. *If fagdyrlæge-edducation from another country, please provide documentation of education and recertification.
 
Kursusindhold
Having completed the course, the participant should be able to:

. Perform and apply a clinical neurological examination (anatomical lesion localization)
. Discriminate between neurological and non-neurological disorders
. Discriminate between central and peripheral neurological conditions
. Discriminate between upper and lower motor neuron disease
. List appropriate differential diagnoses according to the neurological signs and the development of disease, i.e. degenerative, autoimmune, metabolic, neoplastic, idiopathic, inflammatory/infectious, traumatic and vascular conditions, e.g. dementia, aseptic meningitis, epilepsy, GME, space-occupying lesions and hemorrhagic and ischaemic stroke.
. Present appropriate treatment protocols, including medical and surgical treatment as well as rehabilitation programs of neurological patients
. Educate owners of chronic neurological patients concerning long-term medical treatment, recovery and rehabilitation
. Use relevant scientific literature in the field
. Evaluate different patient types combining the above achieved skills
 
Undervisningsform
Teaching form. A combination of theoretical lectures, interactive video based case-sessions and case-based practice.
 
Målbeskrivelse
The purpose of this course is to further develop the skills of the participant within the discipline of veterinary clinical neurology in companion animals. The level of prior knowledge and skills within neurology from the veterinary candidate level will further be developed into a more advanced level.
