Beskrivelse af eksamen: The students will be continuously assessed based on the following: Students have to participate at least 80% of the practical course. As a part of the course the student will have to perform oral presentations and hand in a number of in written exercises/cases and procedure protocols.

Kursusindhold
Having completed the course, the student should have:
. Advanced knowledge of haematologic diseases and haemostatic disorders in cats and dogs with regard to aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis
. Advanced knowledge of emergency medical conditions in cats and dogs with regard to aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis
. Advanced knowledge of infectious diseases in cats and dogs with regard to aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis

Having completed the course, the student should be:
. Familiar with the use of transfusion medicine on a basic level
. Confident in emergency treatment of acute and critical medical conditions including vascular emegencies and acid-base disorders
. Confident in performance and interpretation of cytology
 
Undervisningsform
. A combination of theoretical lectures and case-based practice
 
Målbeskrivelse
The purpose of this course is:
To provide the student with theoretical and practical skills to perform diagnostic work up, establish prognosis and elaborate therapeutic strategies for the management of:
1) dogs and cats with haematological disorders including haemostatic disorders (1 day)
2) dogs and cats with critical conditions including vascular emergencies and acid-base disorders (1 day)
3) dogs and cats with infectious diseases (1 day)

To provide the student with hands on knowledge in the field of cytology including accurate sampling and advanced interpretation (1 day)
