LPhD083 Map construction and QTL analysis in plants

Details
Responsible DepartmentDepartment of Agriculture and Ecology

Course Dates15/11-19/11 2012

Course AbstractThe course provides insight into the genetic and theoretical background og linkage mapping and the detection of Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL´s) in plants, both based on segregating populations and association mapping.

Course Content
The course gives you the theoretical basis (as far as necessary) and the hands-on experience within the following areas:

Calculation of linkage between two loci.
Construction of a linkage maps.
QTL analysis based on segregating populations (classical QTL analysis).
QTL analysis based on historical crossing-over events (LD/association-mapping).
All these methods will relate to plants.

Teaching and learning Methods
Mixture of lectures, theoretical exercises and hands-on exercises with 'production-level' computer software.

Learning Outcome
Principally, the course is intended for PhD students from Nordic countries. Nevertheless, it might also useful for you, if you are:
a PhD student from other places in the world,
a scientist willing to enter into this area,
another professional willing to enter into this area.
